The protesters have demanded the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The farmers are protesting in an effort to attain higher prices for their produce while also demanding that outstanding farm loans be waived by the state government.

Internet services in Mandsaur, Ratlam and Ujjain were also suspended following the farmers’ protests, and a curfew was reportedly imposed.

The Madhya Pradesh CM has appealed to farmers to maintain peace as the farmers continue their protest.
