Terrorist neutralised, operation concludes in Budgam

Security forces on Tuesday gunned down a terrorist here and also recovered a weapon from him, ending the encounter which began this morning.

However, an Army jawan has been injured and two civilians have been killed during the gunbattle.

Meanwhile, security forces have launched a combing operation to sweep the area, ensuring no untoward elements are still present.

The encounter started around 6 a.m. after security forces launched cordon and search operation in the area on the basis of specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area.

Condemning the Budgam attack, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that nothing can be achieved through war and violence adding that the state must realize the situation and accept talks as solution.

The Chief Minister asserted that thousands of militants, security forces, civilians and police officials have died due to these attacks here.

“Nothing can be achieved through war and violence. Every year thousands of militants, civilians, security forces and police officials die due to these attacks,” the J-K CM told media

She further said that the people of the state must realize the situation and accept for talkings and discussions.

Reports had also emerged that some stone pelters had tried to disrupt the army operation against terrorists.
