Donald Trump took to Twitter to comment on Streep’s Golden Globes speech, in which she didn’t directly name the president-elect, after giving a quotation to The New York Times saying he had not seen the ceremony.

Hours after Streep’s acceptance speech, Trump called the triple Oscar-winner, “one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood” and a “Hillary-flunky”. He then explained that he was not mocking a disabled reporter, and said he “would never do that”.

Earlier the star of Hollywood had taken a dig at US President Elect without even taking his name in her Cecil B. DeMille Award speech at the 74th annual Golden Globes 2017.
While Streep’s address was the most prolonged political statement of the night, it wasn’t the only one. Although perpetually peppy host Jimmy Fallon called for Sunday’s awards to be a “celebration” of the arts, there was a bit of a political elephant in the room — and it was Trump.
