Skoda has finally delivered a much-needed update to its sedan Rapid with several surfaces and interior renovations. The rates of the new Rapid varies between Rs 8.35 lakh to Rs 11.46 lakh for petrol version and Rs 9.57 lakh to Rs 12.79 lakh for the diesel version.
Renewing the outside, the new Rapid dresses Skoda’s ‘crystalline design’ style that highlights a broad Skoda impression ‘butterfly’ grille with black vertical slats, angular projector headlamps with LED DRLs and updated bumper design with latest fog lamps.
New Rapid will be essayed with two engine options- the old 1.6-litre MPI petrol engine that delivers 105 PS and 153 Nm, and the new 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine already used in the VW Ameo which delivers 110 PS and 250 Nm of torque. The petrol engine comes mated to the old 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox while the diesel unit comes with a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

Inside the cabin, the new Rapid sport dual tone interiors with a pack of new characteristics. The dashboard treats a 6.5-inch infotainment touchscreen system that carries MirrorLink, Bluetooth connectivity, GPS navigation and reverse parking camera. Other additional features are electrically foldable ORVMs, auto rain sensing wipers, cruise control, and rear AC vents.
In the Indian market, the new Rapid will race with famous titles such as Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Volkswagen Vento.
