Family members block traffic to protest girl’s death

Shahjahanpur, Sep 13 (PTI) Family members of a teenagegirl, whose body was found two days ago, today refused tocremate her and blocked the roads in Police Lines heredemanding immediate arrest of the accused. The body of a 14 year-old girl, who had gone missing onSeptember 7, was found on September 11 and handed over to thefamily after post mortem examination but refused to performthe last rites, police said. The family has charged a youth living in Police Lineswith murder as the call record details of the girl’s mobileshowed that he had spoken 60 times with her on the day shewent missing, they said. The family demanded immediate arrest of the youth whowas released after questioning by police. They also demandedsuspension of the concerned police station in-charge. The blockade was lifted following the intervention ofsenior officials but the father has not relented to therequest of performing the last rites of his daughter.
