Wanted man apprehended

Berhampur (Odisha), Aug 25 (PTI) A man, wanted inseveral crimes, was apprehended after an encounter with policeon Bada Mahuri Road in Odisha’s Ganjam district, police saidtoday. The encounter with Dilip Nayak(32), who is wanted inat least eight crimes in Ganjam district, took placeyesterday, police said. A police team had apprehended Nayak during patrollingand he attempted to escape by firing at police, said DillipDas, sub-divisional police officer of Purushottampur. The accused fired one round at police personnel, who,in retaliation, fired two rounds in the air, he said addingno police personnel was injured. Later, police seized a mouser, ammunition and amotorcycle from the man, who was admitted at MKCG MedicalCollege and Hospital and doctors said he is out of danger. Police said Nayak was involved in several crimes,including murder, robbery, dacoity, rioting and arsoning. Heis wanted by police and warrants were pending against him inat least two cases.
