Panna (MP), Aug 24 (PTI) A contractor today excavated adiamond weighing 3.39 carat from a mine here leased to him, anofficial said. As per the norm, the contractor, identified as DeviDayal, handed over the diamond to the officer concerned. Its cost is estimated to be Rs 3.39 lakh. "Dayal dug out the diamond from a mine under Dahlan areasome 15 km from the district headquarters. The diamond weighed3.39 carat and is estimated to worth Rs 3.39 lakh," saidDistrict Diamond Officer R K Dixit. He said the diamond will be auctioned and after deducting11.5 per cent towards royalty, the rest money will be paid toDayal. Panna district is famous of Diamond deposit in thecountry.
