Nasser Hussain sets new Guinness World Record for highest catch of cricket ball

Date:

England versus Pakistan test series which starts on 14th July has a new talent to witness.  Former England cricket captain Nasser Hussain has successfully attempted to set a record for the Highest catch of a cricket ball.

In a challenge organised by Sky Sports Cricket at the renowned Lord’s Cricket Ground in London earlier this week, Hussain managed to catch a cricket ball dropped from a Batcam drone which hovered in the air at 32 metres (104 ft 11.8 in) high.

Naseer has always demonstrated his competitive sporting nature. He was not satisfied with this record and went on to catch a ball from the even greater height of 49 m (160 ft 9.1 in) – in spite of the windy conditions on the day. The ball reached an approximate speed of 74 mph before landing safely in the cricketer’s hands.

“Sky Sports are always looking to push the limits and be innovative in their approach to coverage, and this was certainly a very different experience for me.”
“It was great fun to spend the morning attempting to catch cricket balls dropped from a drone at the home of cricket – something I never thought I would do. But I am looking forward to giving my hands a rest and getting back to the commentary box for the upcoming Test match,” he continued.
