Five sand mafias held

Muzaffarnagar: In an achievement for irrigation department, five alleged sand mafias have been nabbed and four tractor trolleys were seized from them near Bhopa of Muzaffarnagar district, an official said on Wednesday.

A team of irrigation department and police officials arrested five people for lifting sand from Ganga canal and seized four tractor trolleys loaded with sand yesterday, Executive Engineer of Irrigation department Ashok Rana said.

The arrested have been identified Naresh, Nimu, Ravi, Manoj Kumar and Chotu, Rana added.
