Zuck all set to leave a ‘Mark’ in IIT today

Date:

New Delhi: Exactly a month after he hosted Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the company’s Silicon Valley headquarters, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is all set to hold a Q&A session at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi on Wednesday.

Around 900 students are expected to attend the session. The entire session is being handled by a Facebook team.

Zuckerberg is expected to speak for 15 minutes and spend the next hour answering questions from the audience.

India is home to over 130 million Facebook users, making it the second largest user base for the world’s largest social networking site after the US.

“I’m heading to India and I’ll be hosting our next Townhall Q&A in Delhi on Wednesday, October 28 at 12pm IST (11:30pm Tuesday Pacific time),” Zuckerberg had posted on his Facebook page earlier this month.

“More than 130 million people use Facebook in India. I’m looking forward to hearing directly from one of our most active and engaged communities,” he had added.

At his last townhall held at the Facebook campus in California, Mr Zuckerberg had hosted Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was on a two-day trip to the Silicon Valley.

On Tuesday, Zuckerberg visited Taj Mahal in Agra and described it as “even more stunning” than what he had expected.

“I’m in India for our Townhall Q&A tomorrow, and I decided to visit the Taj Mahal. I’ve always wanted to see this,” he said on his Facebook page. Later, he also posted picture of him at the Taj Mahal.

IIT Delhi has over 8000 students, but only 900 students will be allowed to enter the hall, selected through a lottery. The hall has a seating capacity for 1,100, but only 900 of the seats are reserved for students.
