India’s monsoon deficiency drops by 3%, says IMD

Weathermen said extreme southern peninsula, which includes Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka and Kerala, may expect good showers in next 48 hours.

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that overall monsoon deficiency in the country, which was around 16 percent until last week, has dropped by three percent.

After the widespread rainfall in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, the overall monsoon deficiency has been reduced to 13 per cent in the country, although several parts are still reeling under acute water shortage.

The east and northeast India has witnessed a deficiency of seven percent, followed by 13 percent in Central India.

The southern peninsula has recorded a deficiency of 15 percent, while the northwest is staring at a deficiency of 19 percent, which is highest in the country.

The low pressure area, which became a deep depression traveled across Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat gave good amounts of rain in Central India.
