Hotel in Malaysia named world’s largest by Guinness Records

Kuala Lumpur: A Malaysian hotel with over 7,000 rooms has reclaimed the title of the world’s largest hotel by the Guinness World Records.

The First World Hotel in the hill resort of Genting Highlands near boasts of as many as 7,351 rooms and the three-star hotel had previously won the same recognition for eight years from 2006 to 2013.

It regained its title this year following the opening of a new block.

Resorts World Genting senior vice president in hotel operations Edward Holloway said the recognition was a symbol of innovation excellence for the hill resort that would further enhance Malaysia’s tourism industry.

The hotel has received over 35.5 million guests over the nine years since its first record in 2006, he said.
