Man beaten to death in Delhi road rage case

Date:

New Delhi: In a suspected case of road rage, a 38-year-old man was beaten to death after an altercation when his motorbike collided in central Delhi’s Turkman gate area on Sunday night.

The incident took place when Shahnawaz was heading home on his motorbike with his two children sitting behind him, when he hit an approaching i20 car in what the police have described as a minor collision.

The men in the car had a heated argument with Shahnawaz and began to beat him with sticks and iron rods, the police said. He was hit on head with an iron rod and fell unconscious.

Shahnawaz was rushed to a hospital nearby, where he died.

Soon after the incident, tension prevailed in the area as locals protested alleging police inaction in the case.

Heavy police deployment was made in the area and some people have been detained.

“We have registered a case of murder and investigations are on. We are examining CCTVs installed in the area to identify the assailants,” said a senior police official.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Parmaditya said that they have information about Shahnawaz’s attackers and that they will be arrested soon.
