MiG-27 aircraft of IAF crashes in Rajasthan

Barmer: A MiG-27 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force on Tuesday crashed, but the pilot ejected safely. However, it was not immediately known if there was any casualty.

Air Force sources said the crash occurred at about 3.10pm. The pilot ejected safely, a defence spokesperson said in New Delhi. The aircraft, which is used for ground attack purposes, took off from Jodhpur airbase and was on its way to Uttarlai air force station in Rajasthan.

“It was on routine sortie,” he said, adding, helicopters have been flown to the site of the crash for rescue operation.

A probe has been ordered into the crash.
