Ban calls for nations to work towards a sustainable world

Gandhinagar: UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon on Sunday called for working towards a better and sustainable world which would benefit every country.

“This dynamic state has long been a cultural crossover to the world. Today, it can also be a crossroad for a new era of sustainable development,” Ban Ki-Moon said at the three-day 7th Vibrant Gujarat Summit that began here on Sunday

“You are here to not only build industrial strength but sustainable inclusive solutions. Let us work together for a better and sustainable world where nobody will be left behind,” he added.

Invoking the importance of land of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth, Moon said: ” I sincerely hope, all world and business leaders and people will be inspired by Gandhi’s visions and teaching.”

“I commend Prime Minister Modi’s smart cities initiative and vision of use of renewable energy efficiently,” he said adding, “Gujarat is a state where technology meets climate action, where entrepreneur meet clear energy, where young people meet job opportunities.”

Earlier in the day, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel said that Gujarat is committed towards making the ‘Make in India’ campaign a success and added that the state is going to be a trendsetter in the campaign.

Around 50,000 delegates from India and 1,800 others from 105 countries are said to be participating in it.
