Music for your ears in 2015

Many artists will be releasing their albums this year, with some slated for a major comeback.

We look at some of those that will be closely watched out for in the coming months.

 

Marilyn Manson

The ninth studio album by Manson started production in 2013. In a January 2014 interview with Kerrang! Magazine, Manson described the sound of the new album as being “very cinematic”, adding that it contains “old blues” influences, while still having the “harder elements” of his previous work.

Genre:  Industrial rock, alternative metal, alternative rock

Release date: January 16

 

The Decemberists

This will be the bands seventh studio album. Fans can be assured to hear the usual whimsical songs that are enchanted with beautiful, eclectic instruments and vocals.

Genre: Indie Rock

Release date: January 20

 

Imagine Dragons

The idea behind the second studio album, dubbed as their “new year’s resolution” was to create music and finish it when the band feels that their work is done.

Genre: Indie rock

Release date: February 17

 

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds

Former Oasis band member Gallagher along with former Oasis session pianist Mike Rowe, drummer Jeremy Stacey of The Lemon Trees, The Zutons bassist Russell Pritchard and guitarist Tim Smith, will be releasing their second studio album. Johnny Marr appears on the album’s closing track, “Ballad of the Mighty I.”

Genre: Rock, alternative rock

Release date: March 2

 

Madonna

The upcoming thirteenth studio album by the superstar will be released after a slurry of unexpected album content leaks, including thirteen early demos in December 2014. Many artists have collaborated with her, including Alicia Keys and Pharrell Williams.

Genre: Pop, house, EDM

Release date: March 10

 

Laura Marling

Her fifth album is hugely anticipated by her fans. This mercury award winning singer is sure to entice with her brilliant song writing and storytelling skills. 

 

Album: Short Movie

Genre: Indie, folk rock

Release date: March 24
