5 saal Kejriwal: AAPs new poll anthem

Date:

NEW DELHI:  Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday officially launched his party’s campaign for Delhi Assembly elections, the dates of which are yet to be announced.

In a first of a series of rallies and public meetings, called the ‘AAP Dialogues’ aimed to woo the youth, the party leaders gathered at Jantar Mantar in the heart of Delhi, where a new anthem “5 Saal Kejriwal” was released.

Addressing thousands of his supporters, former Delhi chief minister said if voted to power, AAP government “would create 8 lakh jobs and train 10 lakh youth in the next five years”.

Kejriwal also promised to make the national capital a free Wi-Fi zone and provide better sports infrastructure by building stadia in the city using community participation.

In his five-point election agenda for the youth, Kejriwal promised 20 new colleges, doubling seats in 70 existing colleges, loans at nominal rates for young entrepreneurs, providing skill and finance to young people, and reducing Value Added Tax or VAT to encourage trade.

Kejriwal, who had last governed Delhi, had quit after a 49-day stint as chief minister when his anti-graft proposal was blocked by other parties.

The Dialogues, intended at targeting the youth, saw celebrities like Raghu Ram, Jasleen Kaur and others performing on stage. Kejriwal too joined in with a short impromptu dance.
