Karan Johar designs for women

Date:

Mumbai: Filmmaker Karan Johar has made his debut in designing female wear for a clothing brand.

The newly-launched Vero Moda marquee collection has been created keeping in mind the latest trends.

Karan Johar, who has often worked as a costume designer in his films, said, “Through the years, I have used my films as an outlet to showcase my own sense of fashion which is luxurious and grand, yet functional at the same time.”

“This is my first attempt to recreate my own distinct style by putting together a collection for a women’s fashion brand. The fact that I get to do it for a brand like Vero Moda makes it very exciting for me,” the 42-year-old director said.

This occasion-wear line comprised of stylish separates and ensembles, which are opulent yet functional.

“Karan’s take on fashion is an interesting confluence of styles inspired by high-street trends and haute-couture. The launch of this exclusive collection will add to our fashion repertoire and help us re-define fashion trends,” said Vineet Gautam, Country Head, Vero Moda.

Karan Johar made his stint as a fashion designer with Varun Bahl for men’s collection four years ago.
