BSF Jawan to be returned soon

Jammu: The Director-General (DG) of Pakistan Rangers on Thursday said that they will soon return the Border Security Force (BSF) soldier who was swept away by strong currents of the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir and was captured by them.

“I want to say that we are returning the solider soon. Verification process is on and multiple agencies Ministry of Interior, ISI and Military Intelligence are verifying the antecedent. To us everything is okay and hopefully he will be returned soon,” said the DG.

Director-General BSF D K Pathak on Wednesday said, “formalities are being done and we are hopeful that Pakistan Rangers will release our soldier in a couple of hours.”

The incident took place when a team of BSF soldiers was patrolling in the Chenab. Their boat got swept away by strong currents after its engine failed. While five soldiers jumped off the boat to save themselves, one was swept away.
