New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi will undertake a day-long visit to Italy to take part in the G7 summit on June 14th. PM Modi will return the next day of the G7 summit in time for the parliament session beginning in mid-June and is unlikely to attend the Ukraine Peace Summit in Switzerland.
PM Modi is expected to address several issues related to development, health and food security. PM Modi will also hold bilateral meetings with many of the G7 leaders. The G7 is expected to announce their plans to use income from frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine at the summit.
The summit will be hosted by Italian PM Giorgia Meloni in Apulia. She was among the first heads of govt to congratulate Narendra Modi-led NDA for the majority in the Lok Sabha elections.
In a post on X, Meloni said she was sure “that we will continue to work together to strengthen the friendship that unites Italy and India and consolidate cooperation on the various issues that bind us, for the well-being of our nations and our peoples”.

PM Modi replied to the Italian Prime Minister by thanking her and saying that he is committed to deepening the India-Italy strategic partnership which is supported by shared interests and values.
