A post contending that a couple was stripped naked in Uttar Pradesh recently is doing the rounds on social media. The post claims that when they went to the police station to report a theft, they were stripped naked at the crossroad near the station.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with a caption: महान देश की इस सच्चाई को पेश करते हुए शर्मशार हो रहा हूँ। पर इसको पोस्ट करना भी जरूरी है। जहां पर मीडिया विकलांग, बिकाऊ और पक्षपाती हो जाता है वहां पर हम सभी को एक सच्चे पत्रकार की भूमिका में सामने आना पड़ता है। ये तस्वीर उ.प्र. के ग्रेटर नॉएडा के धनकौर थाना की है। कोई प्रवीन यादव इसके इंचार्ज हैं जिसने इस गरीब दलित दम्पति को चौराहे पर नंगा इसलिए कर दिया, क्योंकि ये थाने में अपने घर हुई चोरी की घटना की शिकायत करने और चोरों को पकड़ने की मांग करने थाने में प्रवीन एस.एच.ओ. के पास आये थे। देखिये बीच चौराहे पर बेबस पति पत्नी को नंगा किया गया है और पास खड़ी हिजड़ों की फ़ौज तमाशा देख रही है। अनुरोध है कि आप इस पोस्ट को इतना शेयर करें अपराधी एस.एच.ओ. शाम तक टंग जाये।

Running a Reverse Image Search of the viral picture, the NM team traced a news article in India Today, dated October 10, 2015, and titled: Dalit family bares it all after Greater Noida police fail to register their FIR.
The picture in the article matches the viral image, describing a Dalit family, in the Dankaur area in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, stripped naked to protest the police’s alleged refusal to register a complaint of robbery. We found similar news articles published in Hindustan Times, The Hindu, and India TV dated 2015 as well.
Conducting a Google Keyword Search, our team also identified a YouTube video on the official channel of The Quint, dated October 20, 2015, with a title: Stripping True Story: Anger, Humiliation and Trumped-up Charges.
The description of the video contains a quote from the SHO of the Dankaur police station, who lodged an “Attempt to Murder” case on the man in the picture for trying to kill him. It further clarifies that the man and his family were stripped in front of a police station as a way of protesting against the authorities for refusing to register an FIR for robbery.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the image is from 2015 and not recent.
