The screenshot of a newspaper report is going viral on social media claiming that a man from the Muslim community got married to his own daughter, after which she became pregnant.
The viral screenshot was shared on Facebook with the hashtag West Bengal and the caption in Hindi reads, ‘Jihadi Afzuddin Ali married his own daughter, daughter is pregnant, daughter’s own mother said that the marriage was Allah’s order. Angry villagers beat up the father and handed him over to the police. Muslim Personal Law Board also jumped in to save the Jihadi.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found it to be old.
We ran a keyword search and found a Facebook post from 2017 where a similar screenshot was posted. However, the posted article was in English and the dateline read November 20, 2007.
Taking a cue from this, we ran another search and found a report by TOI dated November 07, 2007.
As per the article, in the Kasiajhora village of Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, Afzuddin Ali married his own daughter and made her pregnant. As per the article, Afzuddin read this Nikah in front of his wife.
We found another report on this matter on the BBC website, where it was informed that Afazuddin Ali of West Bengal had married his daughter and got her pregnant.
Thus, from the above fact check, it is clear that the news is from 2007 and not recent.
