AAP facing funding heat

Date:

New Delhi: With just five days to go before Delhi assembly polls, AAP Volunteer Action Manch (AVAM), a volunteer group, has come out alleging a massive scam in the funding of Aam Admi Party (AAP).

AVAM volunteers questioned the funding routes to AAP and allegedly claimed it is a funding scam.

Addressing a press conference at the Press Club of India, AVAM claimed four bogus companies made donations amounting to Rs 50 lakhs each to AAP.

The AVAM members also claimed that bogus companies also funded the party and  dummy entries were made to evade tax by AAP. The AVAM volunteers also claimed AAP is indulged in money laundering.

AVAM said its volunteers had checked out each of the addresses of the donor companies as mentioned in the website of AAP. They found no such companies were running out of the locations.

AVAM added one of the companies was registered at an address which was located in a shanty.

In total, AVAM claimed to have unearthed 31 such bogus companies which donated to AAP’s coffers, adding it was a clear case of money laundering as most of these companies had received money in their account only days before it was transferred to the AAP account.

NewsMobile does not vouch for the authenticity of the claims made by AVAM.

AVAM is a group of volunteers who had broken away from the AAP in August last year to voice opinion against several aspects of AAP, including lack of “Swaraj” within the organisation.

Reacting to the allegations AAP leader Atishi Marlena tweeted “Welcome any investigation agency to probe funds.” In another tweet, AAP star campaigner, Vishad Dadlani tweeted, “AVAM is not an “independent NGO”. It is a group of people who were thrown out of AAP for reasons ranging from dishonesty to criminality.”
