UK PM Sunak Appeals To Voters Ahead Of The UK Election, Says “Don’t Do Something You Might Regret”

Date:

London: UK PM Rishi Sunak is campaigning extensively ahead of the upcoming UK elections. Sunak also urged the voters to not do something that they will regret and warned against handing a majority to the labour opposition on Tuesday.

The pre-election exit polls have predicted a strong majority for the Labour Party. This has also forced the Sunak-led conservatives on the backfoot. The Labour Party under the leadership of Sir Keir Starmer are predicted to win a supermajority in this month’s elections. Both main party leaders are using the final days of campaigning to zigzag as many parts of the United Kingdom as possible, especially where they hope there are still some undecided voters to win over.

“After you decide on Thursday, there’s no turning back.” Don’t do something you might regret,” Rishi Sunak said on X, reinforcing his main point that tax increases under a Labour-led government will affect all citizens. Speaking to the BBC, Sunak stated: “My point is that if the polls are accurate and Labour secures a sizable majority, they will have complete control over the government and will be free to raise taxes on everyone and take a lenient stance towards migration across the board for the European Union.”

“I don’t want people to sleepwalk into that,” he continued. I am hence exerting great effort to win every vote. I want to stay in this position so I can safeguard our borders, preserve pensions for people, and reduce taxes for people.”Keir Starmer, 61, has been emphasizing that “every single vote counts” in the meantime to allay any suspicions among voters that the election was predetermined to favour his party.

In an interview with “The Times,” the leader of the Labour Party attempted to turn the Conservatives’ threats of a “Labour supermajority” into a positive while highlighting the necessity of a strong mandate to “truly alter” the nation to put “more money in the wallets of the people. The Labour Party has denied any plans to raise taxes on any basis and instead has outlined its strategy as being centred on generating more growth through significant skill overhauls and planning changes.

Before voting places across the nation open at 7 a.m. local time on Thursday, the leaders of both parties will utilize the last hours of their campaigns to emphasize their different platforms. Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer will be anxiously awaiting the results from the 650 constituencies in the UK Parliament, of which 326 are needed for a majority, once they close at 10 p.m. local time. Opinion polls suggest that Labour will win a landslide, while the incumbent Tories are predicted to gain anything from 53 to 150 seats.
