Team India’s Flight Gets Water Cannon Salute At Mumbai Airport

Mumbai: The champion Indian cricket team received a grand water cannon salute at Mumbai airport upon their arrival in the city on Thursday evening. This ceremonial welcome marked the start of the celebrations as the Men-In-Blue returned home.

After leaving the Mumbai Airport the Rohit Sharma-led T20 World Cup champion squad began their victory parade from Marine Drive to Wankhede Stadium. A sea of fans at Marine Drive, were eagerly waiting with bated breath to give a red carpet welcome to the world champions.

Earlier, the Rohit Sharma led squad met PM Narendra Modi at his residence. Around 6:05 AM in the morning on Thursday, a chartered Air India flight carrying the T20 world champions landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

India ended a 13-year ICC World Cup trophy drought with victory in the final, defeating South Africa by seven runs on June 29.

Virat Kohli’s 76 helped India reach 176/7 while Hardik Pandya (3/20) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/18) helped India restrict Proteas to 169/8 despite Heinrich Klaasen’s 52 in just 27 balls. Bumrah, who got 15 scalps throughout the tournament at a stunning economy rate of 4.17, got the ‘Player of the Tournament’ honours.
