New Delhi: Rohit Sharma led Indian team became the world champions beating South Africa in the final of ICC T20 WC 2024 on Saturday at Kensington Oval ending India’s long wait for an ICC trophy.
Rohit and co beat South Africa by 7 runs to clinch the title. After India’s win Rohit’s mother Purnima Sharma, posted a sweet photo of him. The viral post also featured Rohit’s daughter Samira and India’s star batter Virat Kohli. The caption of the post read: ‘goat duo in T20 cricket’ and a special message was also written along with it “Daughter on his shoulders, nation on his back, brother on his side.”

After a few moments of winning the second ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said that this was his last match for India in T20 cricket. The Indian skipper told the reporters “No better time to say goodbye to this format”.
Rohit Sharma and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan have played every T20 World Cup since 2007. Rohit finished his T20I career as the all-time leading run-getter with 4,231 runs in 159 matches for India and will continue to lead India in ODIs and Test matches.
