Mumbai: The Indian team crossed the ocean of fans who came in to celebrate their T20 World Cup success, and arrived at the Wankhede Stadium to continue the night of celebration. The Rohit Sharma-led T20 World Cup champion squad began their victory parade from Marine Drive to Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, bringing the city to a halt as thousands of fans gathered to greet the ‘Men in Blue’.

- Speaking a the BCCI felicitation function at the Wankhede Stadium Virat Kohli said, “Rohit and I, we’ve been trying this for so long. We always wanted to win a World Cup. Bringing the trophy back to Wankhede is a very special feeling. We have been playing for the last 15 years and this is the first time, I’ve seen Rohit so emotional – he was crying, I was crying, a hug between both of us, I will never forget that day.”
- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) awarded the World Cup-winning Indian cricket team a grand prize of INR 125 crore in recognition of their stellar performance. The prize money, announced earlier by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, was officially handed over to the team led by Rohit Sharma.

- Around 6:05 AM in the morning on Thursday, a chartered Air India flight carrying the T20 world champions landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. At 7:00 AM, the Indian Team led by walked out of the airport and boarded the bus.

- Hundreds of fans thronged to the airport braving the weather to showcase their love and support for the Indian Team for their historic win at the T20 World Championship. India ended a 13-year ICC World Cup trophy drought with victory in the final, defeating South Africa by seven runs on June 29.
Virat Kohli’s 76 helped India reach 176/7 while Hardik Pandya (3/20) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/18) helped India restrict Proteas to 169/8 despite Heinrich Klaasen’s 52 in just 27 balls. Bumrah, who got 15 scalps throughout the tournament at a stunning economy rate of 4.17, got the ‘Player of the Tournament’ honours.
