Florida: The T20 World Cup match between the US and Ireland washed out due to heavy rain in Florida on Friday. This resulted in the US qualifying for the Super 8 knockout stage and knocking Pakistan out of the World Cup.
As per a Times of India report excessive rainfall had put South Florida at risk of life-threatening floods. This resulted in a wet outfield when the teams arrived at the stadium. Although the rain had stopped the umpires called off the game when it started raining again.
India top the group with six points while the US are in second position with five points. So as per the math, Pakistan who is at two points cannot qualify even if they beat Ireland on Sunday in their final group game. Only the top two teams from the four groups will qualify for the Super 8. The US defeated Canada before stunning Pakistan in a match which went to a super over.
