Prime Minister Modi Slams Congress Over Sam Pitroda’s ‘Inheritance Tax’ Remark

Date:

Surguja: In the midst of a row around ‘wealth redistribution’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on remarks made by Congress leader Sam Pitroda on ‘inheritance tax’ law. Speaking at an election rally in Surguja, PM Modi condemned the proposal, alleging that it reflected Congress’s intention to prevent individuals from passing on their property to their children.

“The prince’s advisor from the royal family has suggested imposing more taxes on the middle class. Now, Congress has taken it a step further by proposing an Inheritance Tax, which would tax inheritance received from parents. The property earned through hard work will not be passed on to your children,” asserted the Prime Minister.

PM Modi accused the Congress of adopting a mantra of “Loot zindagi ke sath bhi zindagi ke baad bhi” (Loot, during one’s lifetime and afterwards), claiming that the party aimed to burden individuals with higher taxes during their lifetime and impose an Inheritance Tax after their demise. He criticized Congress for denying Indians the ability to pass on their property to future generations.

Following the uproar over his comments, Pitroda attempted to clarify his stance, stating that he had merely cited the inheritance tax in the US as an example. He questioned the panic surrounding his remarks and emphasized that it was not indicative of Congress’s policy.

In response to Pitroda’s comments, the Congress officially distanced itself, asserting that his remarks did not reflect the party’s stance at all times.

WHAT DID PITRODA SAY?

Continuing his attack on the Congress manifesto, Modi accused the opposition party of planning to implement reservation based on religion, contrary to the principles laid down during the drafting of the Constitution. He criticized Congress for disregarding the sanctity of the Constitution and the words of prominent leaders like Baba Saheb Ambedkar.

PM Modi also lambasted Congress for its alleged support of individuals involved in violence and terrorism, referencing Salman Khurshid’s remarks about Sonia Gandhi shedding tears over the Batla House encounter. He claimed that such actions had eroded the trust of the country in Congress.
