As the glare is cooling off in the Lakhimpur Kheri violent incident of mowing down of eight people, including four farmers, by a convoy, the Yogi government should not slacken the pace of police probe to book the guilty.

The Supreme Court has already expressed its displeasure over the manner and delay in arresting the accused by coming down heavily on U.P. Government.

With farmers organisation and political parties demanding the dropping of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra from the Union Cabinet and his son being in custody, it is time for applying healing touch on the affected families of farmers who have lost their dear ones.

On behalf of the government, Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who is on an official visit to the US, has minced no words in condemning the incident. It’s time that the BJP governments both in New Delhi and U.P. show urgency in stepping up the probe in the poll bound state. Double engine for growth should also hold true for dispensing speedy justice.
