The euphoria among TMC cadres has translated to despair among BJP supporters within hours of declaration of West Bengal assembly election results which saw a landslide win for the Trinamool Congress.
Over 11 lives have been lost already in widespread violence and arson being beamed across all TV channels, several others have been injured and houses ransacked. The Home Ministry has sought an immediate report from the West Bengal government even as TMC says this is the result of infighting within BJP cadres.
Governor Jagdeep Dhankar has put out clarion calls for peace and incumbent Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee too has called an emergency meeting at her Kalighat residence with top government functionaries to take stock of lawlessness Bengal has plunged into.
In a democracy, there will always be a winner and a loser. But the onus on Mamata Banerjee tp ensure that citizens of her state are not looked at from a partisan lens because of their political ideology.
She is not just the supremo of the Trinamool, she is also the Chief Minister in waiting of West Bengal. And she cannot allow murder of democracy.
