New Delhi: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s brief visit to New Delhi on Friday comes at a rather unusual time when escalation at the border in Ladakh continues amid heavy deployment of troops by China.
In meeting his Indian counterpart Dr. S. Jaishankar and National Security Adviser, the Chinese Foreign Minister has indicated the willingness of Beijing in reaching out to India amidst deadlock in the situation at the border which has prevailed since April 2020 and worsened after the deadly Galwan clashes.
India has rightly and firmly asserted that peace and tranquility at the border is directly linked to the resumption of bilateral relations in the normal mode. New Delhi must keep on insisting on the de-escalation of the situation at the border and return to the status quo ante. India has clearly said that it cannot be business as usual with China till peace and tranquility return at the border.
