The newly elected Parliament members took their oaths from June 24 to June 26 in Delhi’s new Parliament House. Amidst this, a 56-second video from the session, featuring the National Anthem before MPs took their oaths, has circulated widely on social media, claiming that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi arrived late at the Parliament after the National Anthem concluded.
The Facebook post reads: “As usual the🤡🐷piss on Rahul Gandhi was late and NOT present during the #IndianNational Anthem. Just as ‘Jana Gana Mana’ ended scumbag entered the Parliament!”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be fake.
Putting the video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, the NM team found the complete video of the opening session of the 18th Parliament on Sansad TV’s YouTube channel. The National Anthem starts playing at the 3.07 mark. By the 3.18 mark, MPs from the INDIA bloc are visible, and towards the rear left, behind the Sansad TV logo, a man resembling Rahul Gandhi, wearing a white T-shirt and black trousers can be seen standing. At 4.13, Rahul Gandhi enters the frame from the right, in the same direction as the previously mentioned man, walking towards the front of Parliament. He is dressed in his usual attire — a white T-shirt and black trouser.
Given below is a comparison between the two frames:
We also identified a tweet by Congress Youth leader Srinivas BV (@srinivasiyc), who clarified that the individual at the rear of Parliament during the National Anthem was, indeed, Rahul Gandhi.
Stop spreading lies!
Rahul ji was present during the National Anthem for the entire duration.
He can be seen standing in the top left corner in the initial seconds of this video and at the end. https://t.co/XejsVuddgZ pic.twitter.com/KLv3iAXWXl

We did not find any news reports regarding Rahul Gandhi’s late arrival at the inaugural session of the new Parliament.
Thus, we can conclusively say that Rahul Gandhi was present in Parliament, contrary to the viral post’s claim, during the National Anthem.
