Fact Check: 2022 Video Showing Brutal Thrashing Of A Man Viral With Fictitious Claims

A video of few people brutally thrashing a man is doing the rounds on social media, claiming that the video is from Uttar Pradesh, where BJP MLA Vipul Dubey is beating his house-help for demanding more salary.

The post reads: ๐•๐ข๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐ƒ๐ฎ๐›๐ž ๐๐‰๐ ๐Œ๐‹๐€ from UP beating his emploee for asking his salary.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be Misleading.

Putting the keyframes of the video through Reverse Image search, the NM team spotted a screengrab of the viral video in a report by ETV Bharat, dated April 17, 2022. According to the report, this video is from Shahjahanpur district in UP. After the video went viral, the police took strict action and registered an FIR against three, including Prateek Tiwari, the main accused in the case.

Searching further, we found a similar report in Amar Ujala, identifying the main accused as Prateek Tiwari. We also found that an FIR had been registered against Prateek Tiwari on March 13, 2022 at Sadar Bazar Police Station, Shahjahanpur District, Uttar Pradesh.

Moreover, we also checked onย My Neta, but did not find any BJP MLA named Vipul Dubey.

Thus, it is clear that the video is shared with a false claim.
