FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be misleading.

With relevant keywords, the NM team spotted the same video on the Instagram handle of IUML Arangadi, arangadi_official_page, dated June 29, 2024. The video shows the supporters of IUML, dressed in green jerseys, during the inauguration of the party office.

Another post on the Instagram handle includes a newspaper cutout, which clarifies the inauguration of the new Muslim League office in Arangadi, Kasargod district, Kerala.

Upon carefully scrolling through the IUML Instagram handle, more photos were found posted by the Arangadi Official Instagram account. These photos show IUML party workers wearing the same green jerseys seen in the viral video, even before the inauguration took place.

A Facebook page, named ‘Pacha Pada Arangadi’ (Malayalam: പച്ചപ്പട ആറങ്ങാടി), also carries some clearer videos, posted on June 29, 2024, showing individuals in the same jerseys gathered in front of the same office building.

Moving forward, we compared the Muslim League jersey with the Pakistani cricket team jersey and found significant differences. The Muslim League jersey features text in Malayalam on the back, translating to ‘Green Army’, and the front text specifies ‘Arangadi’, an area in Kasaragod, Kerala. Additionally, the IUML jersey has a yellow border on the sleeves, which the Pakistani cricket jersey does not have.

Given below is the comparison between the viral image and Pakistani cricketer’s jersey:

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the post showing the IUML workers wearing green t-shirts is viral with fictitious claims.
