New Delhi: Residents of Delhi-NCR woke up to spells of heavy rainfall on Thursday morning, offering much-needed relief from the scorching heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has provided a detailed forecast for the upcoming week, predicting generally cloudy skies with varying intensities of rain accompanied by gusty winds.
According to IMD’s predictions for June 27, temperatures will fluctuate between a high of 38°C and a low of 29°C. The weather outlook includes the possibility of very light rain or thunderstorms with gusty winds. Moving to June 28, the forecast indicates light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, with temperatures and wind speeds remaining similar to the previous day, reaching up to 35 km/h.
On June 29, Delhi-NCR is expected to experience slightly cooler temperatures, with a high of 36°C and a low of 28°C. The weather pattern is anticipated to include light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, accompanied by winds gusting between 30 to 40 km/h. By June 30, temperatures are expected to drop further to around 34°C, with moderate to heavy rainfall and gusty winds continuing.
Looking ahead to July 1 and 2, the IMD forecasts thunderstorms with moderate rain, while temperatures will stay steady at a high of 34°C and a low of 27°C. Wind speeds during this period are predicted to range between 25 to 35 km/h.
The anticipated weather conditions may lead to minor traffic disruptions and increase the risk of accidents due to water accumulation on roads. Residents are advised to check for traffic updates before commuting and avoid areas prone to waterlogging.
In related news, schools and colleges in six districts of Kerala will remain closed today due to heavy rainfall warnings. The IMD has issued an orange alert for Wayanad and Kannur districts, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall over the coming days.
With the monsoon advancing further into northwest India, including Delhi-NCR, more rain is expected to provide further relief from the persistent heat wave conditions.
