Delhi Airport Launches ‘Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Programme’; All You Need To Know

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport marked a significant milestone on Saturday by becoming the first airport in India to implement the government’s groundbreaking ‘Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP).’ The initiative caters to Indian passport holders and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah officially launched the programme by unveiling exclusive counters for Trusted Traveller Programme participants at Terminal 3 of the Delhi Airport.

All You Need To Know About FTI-TTP

  • FTI-TTP) is a initiative aimed at offering Indian nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders a more efficient, streamlined, and secure travel experience.
  • Modeled after the United States’ Global Entry Program, the FTI-TTP allows pre-approved, low-risk travellers to enjoy expedited immigration and security processes upon arrival in India. This initiative is designed to minimize wait times and enhance the overall travel experience for eligible participants.
  • The program requires applicants to complete an online application, undergo biometric verification, and pay a processing fee.
  • As part of the application process, biometric appointments are mandatory, where applicants must submit their fingerprint and facial image data along with the required information specified in the application form.
  • Once the online application and biometric data submission for the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) are complete, approved passengers will receive an email or SMS notification to proceed to the next step. This involves biometric enrolment at a designated location such as the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or a dedicated counter at Delhi Airport.
  • Travellers must enroll their biometric details, including fingerprints and facial images. The entire registration process for the FTI-TTP may take up to one month to complete.
  • This first-of-its-kind facility in India aims to significantly reduce congestion at airports by offering expedited emigration/immigration clearance for pre-verified travellers, both arriving and departing.
  • Delhi Airport’s Terminal 3 is equipped with eight electronic gates – four for arrivals and four for departures–to facilitate a seamless experience for programme participants. The number of counters may increase based on demand.

How To Avail FTI-TTP At The Airport

  • Upon arrival at the airport, the passenger must first visit the check-in counter to obtain their boarding pass, which follows the mandatory visa verification.
  • With the boarding pass in hand, the passenger will then proceed to the dedicated TTP e-gates located in the Immigration area. At the initial e-gate, the traveller will scan their passport and boarding pass. Successful verification at this stage will grant passage to the next e-gate.
  • At the subsequent e-gate, the system will perform a facial recognition scan. Once the facial scan is verified, the passenger’s emigration process is effectively completed, allowing for a smoother and quicker transit through immigration.
  • The fee structure for the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) is as follows: Rs 2,000 for adult Indian nationals, Rs 1,000 for minor Indian nationals, and $100 for OCI cardholders.
