Headmaster Modi gives good conduct lessons to his MPs

Date:

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday told the newly elected MPs to have good ‘aachaar, vichaar and vyavahaar’ (conduct, thoughts and behaviour) at the first day of the two-day orientation programme of the party.

Modi inaugurated the orientation programme in Surajkund (Haryana) where BJP MPs are being trained in efficient parliamentary and public conduct. They will also be trained on how to use social media and deal with controversies.

Modi asked MPs to keep a distance from the media and not indulge in out of turn talks. He stated that MPs must convey policies of the government in an effective manner and carry those policies to their constituents.

Sources say the Prime Minister told his MPs that he is also a first-time MP and is undergoing a training in the Prime Minister’s Office. Modi also told MPs to draw a six-month roadmap for their respective constituencies.

BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj, Venkaiah Naidu and Arun Jaitley will conduct different sessions with MPs. The workshop comes ahead of the Budget session which will start on July 7.

Around 180 newly-elected BJP MPs, including 162 from the Lok Sabha and 18 from Rajya Sabha are attending the training workshop which will give them tips on improving their performance as an MP as well as on their conduct. There are around 40 MPs from among the SCs/STs while another 30 are women first-time members.

The new MPs will also be asked to remain in touch with public through social media. Party patriarch L K Advani is likely to deliver the valedictory address on Sunday.
