New Delhi: BCCI is all set to start the Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL) immediately after the conclusion of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup next year.

  • The Tournament is likely to be played with five teams.
  • BCCI plans of having 22 matches with each team featuring a squad of 18 players.
  • Each team can have a total of six overseas players. More than five overseas players cannot feature in a playing XI at the same time, with four players from a full-member nation and one from an associate team.
  • As IPL, the table-topper in the league stage game will go straight to the finals while the second and third-ranked teams will play an eliminator contest.
  • Each team will be playing other teams twice in the league phase of the tournament.
  • According to reports, the WIPL is likely to end before the commencement of Men’s IPL.
  • WIPL is likely to follow caravan-style, where after finishing ten matches at one venue, the next ten matches to be played at the next venue.
