The Congregation decided there was need to examine The Congregation decided there was need to examinedeployment of specially designed ‘stability units’ to buildcoherence between the security, socio-economic development andpublic safety needs of disturbed areas. These ‘stability units’ would approach the problem ofcivilians in disturbed areas from the perspective ofdeveloping public access to justice, minority and womenrights, human and socio-economic development. The activists agreed upon to ensure representation ofmore women in decision making bodies at national, state andlocal levels and as a beginning they should actively seek forwhatever reservation they have in the Legislative Assemblies,panchayats and other local forums. It was agreed to develop area-specific strategies andplans for prevention and responding to Sexual and Gender BasedViolence in conflict affected areas. The two-day Congregation also prepared the draft onNational Action on Women, Peace and Security along with adraft idea for women in political decision making. The Congregation was organised under the initiative ofControl Arms Foundation of India, Manipur Women Gun SurvivorsNetwork and North East India Women Initiative for Peace. PTIDGDKB
