Wickets tumble in second session as well, India staring at defeat

Date:

The second session of the 4th Test was no different from the first session as 7 Indian wickets tumbled. Needing 208 runs to win India are 82/7 and still require 126 runs to win the game while South Africa need 4 wickets.

After Indian bowlers bowled brilliantly in the first session, it seemed like a total lesser (by 1 run) than their first innings should be chased and the momentum was with the visitors as well. A Steyn-less bowling unit was expected to bother India but it looked like 208 was still chasable

However that didn’t prove to be. Murali Vijay played with his luck before being dismissed. He got two decisions overturned by the DRS—one for lbw and other for caught behind.

Shikhar Dhawan was the first one to go, dismissed in the same fashion in which he was dismissed in the first innings. He scored 16 runs before falling. Vijay followed before the team could add any run. Morne Morkel then dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara after he could score just 4 runs. Virat Kohli, who top scored so far with 28 runs, was then dismissed after adding 32 runs with Rohit Sharma.

Rohit then turned Philander’s third victim of the innings as he was cleaned up. Last innings’ hero Hardik Pandya could score just 1 run this time and was dismissed by a sharp catch from AB de Villiers.

Rabada then dismissed Wriddhiman Saha on the last ball of the season.
