Wax statues of Asha Bhosle Sharad Pawar unveiled

Date:

Legendary singer Asha Bhosle says she gets immense satisfaction when her songs soothe the listeners in their times of hardship.

“This satisfaction gives me more peace than earning money,” said Bhosle, speaking at a function to inaugurate her wax statue, made by Sunil’s Celebrity Wax Museum.

NCP Chief Sharad Pawar’s wax statue was also unveiled on this occasion. Bhosle said her statue was made because of Pawar.

“I visited him recently when he was unwell. He was listening to one of my songs. He told me when he was in pain, my songs helped him….I felt there can be no better satisfaction for an artist,” she said.

The statues of Pawar and Bhosle were unveiled at the MCA lounge of the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The singer said that after visiting the famous Madam Tussads museum in London, she always felt the need for a similar museum in India.

“My statue was made because of Pawarji. He asked Sunil’s Celebrity Wax Museum to make my statue,” she said.

Pawar said that the voices of Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar were immortal, and their legacy should be carried forward.

“Asha tai’s statue will inspire the younger generation to dedicate themselves for excellence in the field of music,” he said.

Sunil Kandalloor, sculptor and managing director of the Lonavala-based Wax Museum, said he was now working on Sachin Tendulkar’s statue, and also hoped to render a statue of Lata Mangeshkar one day.
