Volvo and Uber to soon make Self-Driving Cars

The next generation of driving is here. Self Drving Cars! Volvo has recently partnered with Uber to make some self driving cars! The launch of these cars will be in San Francisco, where a technician will be sitting in place of the driver seat. As this will be beta mode, the riders will not be charged for their trip. After the beta testing finishes, and some licesnses are in place, these self driving cars will change the face of the app based cab service industry.

Hakan Samuelsson, president and chief executive of Volvo Cars, said: “We are very proud to be the partner of choice for Uber, one of the world’s leading technology companies. This alliance places Volvo at the heart of the current technological revolution in the automotive industry.”

The new base vehicle will be developed on Volvo’s fully modular Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), the same platform on which the the XC90 SUV, S90 sedan and the V90 estate are built on.
