Village in Indore district gears up for \\’Hingot war\\’

\ Indore, Oct 28 (PTI) The traditional \\’Hingot war\\’ would\take place at Gautampura village in Indore district on October\31, a day after Diwali.\ In this annual ritual, burning \\’Hingots\\’ (a hollow wild\fruit stuffed with explosive powder) are launched, much like\Diwali rockets, at each other by two \\’armies\\’ from Gautampura\and Runji villages.\ Every year a lot of people get injured in the fight.\ District Collector P Narhari told PTI that in view of its\traditional and religious significance, there was no proposal\to prohibit the fight.\ However, like every year, the administration will make\arrangements for providing immediate medical help to the\injured persons, he added.\ A PIL regarding the Hingot battle is also pending before\the Madhya Pradesh High Court.\ Deepak Bourasi, the petitioner, said it was scheduled forext hearing on November 10.
