Two militants apprehended in Manipur

Imphal: Assam Rifles and Army personnel in two different incidents managed to nab two militants in Manipur.

Assam Rifles personnel under the aegis of Inspector General AR (South) apprehended one cadre of outlawed militant outfit People Liberation Army (PLA) at Keibi village in Imphal East district on Friday, an Assam Rifles press release said.

The militant was identified as ‘Corporal’ Athokpam Naoba (25) of Keibi KUmuda village of Imphal East district.

Some arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession which was handed over to Sagolmang police station, the release added.

In another operation troops of Red Shield division of the Army apprehended one cadre of outlawed militant outfit Kanglei Yawon Kanna Lup (KYKL) identified as Oinam Ibungo Meitei (34) of Kangwai Mamang Leikai in Bishnupur district on Friday from his own village, a defence release said. He was handed over to Moirang police station for further investigation.
