Director Vivek Agnihotri’s new film ‘The Tashkent Files’ revolves around the mysteries surrounding the death of former PM Lal Bahadur Shashtri. The reason for his death and the circumstances behind it are still unknown. The trailer dropped on Monday and the film will release on April 12.

Agnihotri said that, “On January 10, 1966, Shastri had signed the Tashkent Agreement and hours later he died. A death mystery unsolved to date. Was it a heart attack or poison? The truth of the biggest coverup has been denied to his family and us,” he told PTI.

It stars Naseeruddin Shah as PKR Natrajan, Pallavi Joshi as Aiysha Ali Shah, Pankaj Tripathi as Gangaram Jha, Shweta Basu Prasad as Raagini Phule, Mithun Chakraborty as Shyam Sundar Tripathi, Vinay Pathak, Mandira Bedi, Ankur Rathee and Prakash Belawadi.
