Team India and the Dance Floor

Date:

Team India works hard and parties harder. I mean, look at the kind of itinerary these guys have. It’s as jam packed, with no breathing space whatsoever. Most of these tournaments that the Indian team plays requires them to be away from the comfort of their homes, away from the presence of their families.
To add to it, there are players in the team like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli among others, who play all three formats of the game. It might not be very easy for us to understand what kind of mental pressure and emotional fatigue these guys would be dealing with, therefore, it’s none of our business to judge them when they decide to let off some steam, if you know what I mean.

More often than not, cricketers are often criticised for partying in the middle of tournaments, on the eve of important clashes and all of that. We need to testimony, the papers and magazines are oh-so-full of these kind of attention-seeking stories. We blame all the poor performances on their party-animal status, and very conveniently say it’s wrong. We condemn.

We look at them as extra-terrestrial beings, who are supposed to deliver their best on and off the field. What we fail to understand is that they’re all human beings, like you and I, young, and raring to go. They have the right to party, unwind and relax before they’re expected to take field and perform to their potential.

So, as long as they get their priorities right and give it their 100%, they have every right to party the way they want. Down the drinks, dance like there’s no tomorrow and live it up. Meanwhile, enjoy some of the cricketers caught unawares while having some fun!
