‘Special Task Force’ for Housing for All in Haryana

Chandigarh, Aug 16 (PTI) Haryana government today saidit has constituted a Special Task Force under the Chairmanshipof Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for the effectiveimplementation of ‘Housing for All’ scheme, and to ensure thateach family in the state has its own house by 2019. This was informed in a meeting regarding the schemepresided over by the Chief Minister here, an officialstatement said. All the respective departments, boards and corporationsinvolved in the implementation of the scheme, includingHaryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Haryana HousingBoard, Haryana Police Housing Corporation and RuralDevelopment Department should prepare schemes to achieve thistarget by 2019, Khattar said. He also directed them to expedite the implementationof the existing housing schemes.`While laying stress on the "scientific method" of conductingsurveys, Khattar directed the departments concerned to providedistrict-wise details of houses already available and newhouses required. He also asked the them to utilise the servicesof multiple agencies in this regard to ensure accuracy of thedata. Khattar said the aim of the government was to assist thosewho either want to construct new house or purchase alreadyconstructed houses. The Chief Minister also directed Haryana HousingBoard see the demand for houses in big cities andtowns of the state including Faridabad, Sonipat and Panipat. He directed the board to construct houses as per thedemand so as to ensure their proper utilisation. Khattar also directed the Rural Development Department tocarry out detailed mapping to identify the exact number ofbeneficiaries who are yet to get 100 square yards plot. The government has assigned Chairman, Haryana HousingBoard, Jawahar Yadav, the task of "maintaining propercoordination" with different departments under the scheme. It was informed in the meeting that HUDA has alreadyconstructed 6,300 flats under Ashiana Scheme. Apart from this,6,000 new flats would be constructed in Rajiv Colony andIndira Colony in Panchkula in Pubic Private Partnership (PPP)mode, the statement said. Haryana Housing Board has also constructed 15,000 housesfor which the allotment process is in progress. Apart fromthis, 17,000 new houses are under construction. The board hasso far constructed 83,000 housing units in the state, it said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had in June, 2015 announced’Housing for All’ scheme to ensure that each family in thecountry has its own house by 2022. PTI CHS AQS RGAQS
