Sanskrit is our heritage and is in our roots: Kiran Bedi

Puducherry, Aug 24 (PTI) Describing Sanskrit as part ofheritage, Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi today said thelanguage does not differentiate between Hindus, Christians orMuslims. "Sanskrit is builder of the mind and personality of thepeople," she said during the the inauguration of Sanskrit Daycelebrations at Pondicherry University here. "It does not differentiate among the people as Hindus,Christians or Muslims. Every faith takes us to one goal,harmony, peace and brotherhood," she added. Asserting that she wanted to put Puducherry "on theright track", she said her attention was focussed on creatinga "cleaner and safer Puducherry". Bedi noted that the two cardinal basics of goodgovernance were creation of cleaner and safer or orderly andregulated environ. On the Puducherry government, she said, "The governmentheaded by Chief Minister V Narayanasamy and his cabinet isdetermined to give people a good, developed and prosperousPuducherry." "We are working together with utmost determination that aclean and safe Puducherry would mean drawing large number oftourists, generating revenue, jobs, and ensuring fastdevelopment," she added. She also called upon local students to come forward andplay their role in achieving the goal of prosperousPuducherry. Bedi inaugurated the Rs 90.53 crore ‘Digital India’Project Cell for automation of the administrative office ofPondicherry University in the first phase as part of PrimeMinister Narendra Modi’s ‘Digital India’ initiative, arelease said. Former Vice-Chancellor of Rashtriya Sanskrit Samsthan,New Delhi, Professor V Kutumba Sastry and Vice-Chancellor ofPondicherry University Anisa Basheer Khan were also presentduring the event.
