About 39,000 individual house-hold latrines would bereadied in critical and geographically challenging areas withthe completion of the project. Even vulnerable communitiesliving in far off places like Attappady and Kadamakuty wouldbenefit from this. Suchitwa Mission is constituted under localself-government with the vision of creating a waste-free,unpolluted Kerala with an emphasis on developing publichygiene and cleanliness. The Mission’s work would enable a better quality of lifefor the people of Kerala through improved health and generalwell-being, economic gains, environmental beautification andoverall environmental upgradation, Vasuki said, detailing theagency’s nature of work. "The mission is entrusted to provide technical andfinancial support to the local self-government bodies forestablishing facilities for waste management and sanitation,"she said. Based on analysis and verification, Suchitwa missionwould provide technical and financial sanction to the projectssubmitted by local bodies and also disburse financialassistance in installments to them, she added.
